runga is also used to indicate means of transport, for example:

Ka haere au ki te mahi mā runga pahikara.
I will go to work by bicycle.

or

I tae mai ia mā runga hoiho.
He arrived on horse back.

but

I tae mai ia mā raro.
He arrived on foot.
